I've been wanting to try ceramic beads for a while. Their virtues seem promising with a very wide use and a super long life span. The efficiency is however relative and will depend on the hardness of the water as well as on its own pallet. Some people say it's a miracle while others say it's a scam. This is really the type of product that you have to test to make up your mind. For my part, it is too early to say whether or not it is anti-scale. On the other hand, the taste is undeniable. My wife, who is very sensitive to taste and uses a carafe filter, removed the filter from her carafe and placed the pearls in its place. And according to her, "the water no longer tastes like tap water". I live in an area with very hard water. The beads worked well in the water pitcher, in the coffee machine tank, and in the dishwasher. For the electric kettle they didn't work well, but I put a bottle of water with beads next to it that I use to fill the kettle.
