The water in my neighborhood is very hard, so I bought these beads to filter the tap water and stop buying water packs. I am very happy with the result, the water has a more neutral taste, without any aftertaste. I chose the grey ceramic beads because they are much more economical as you don't need many (about ten per liter) and their life span is very long (10 years) so it's quiet for a while. I put some in my water carafe and in the kettle. I also bought Binchotan Activated Carbon beads to filter my water of micropollutants in addition to limestone and the change is quite radical.

I discovered filtering carbons with this product and the brand Orinko. Their website is full of information but is not always up to date, especially concerning import legislation, but they are very reactive to emails, which is always a pleasure.So you will find charcoals from different origins in Japan but their efficiency remains the same.In the size S of the product, you will find 100g of pieces of oak charcoal which makes 4 or 5 pieces.knowing that you need about 50g to filter 1 liter of water, it's up to you to adjust the quantity to the size of your carafe.to begin the use of a charcoal, you have to boil it during 10 minutes. To start using a charcoal, boil it for 10 minutes, reactivate it in the same way after one month and it will have a life of 6 months.the constraining side is to organize to let the water filter during 8 hours (optimal time) and to dry the charcoal between two uses. It may surprise you but the result is quite pleasant. The real "hitch" for me is the time needed to purify... it is advised to leave the stick for 8 hours... that's a lot! And the minimum recommended is 4 hours... which is also a lot. The life announced for each stick is excellent and the taste is very pleasant and has nothing to envy to a filtering carafe. I recommend... in more it is organic!
