For horses that are a little hesitant, you can try leaving a few units of MINERAL OLIGOVIT EASY DOSE out in the open air (for 24 hours, for example) to ensure that the smell subsides, then try again a little later. More delicate horses usually get used to it gradually.
What's more, a minimum level of hardness is required to ensure that the product holds its shape without disturbing the horse's chewing action.
Tests were carried out during product development with horses at our Reverdy Research Center.
For each production run, we also check the hardness of the EASY DOSE units, using a piston to measure the force required to break the 15mm diameter EASY DOSE pellet. The absence of cereals in our CEREAL FREE food, combined with its high fiber content, requires more insalivation and chewing than a conventional food. That's why we recommend giving this food in small quantities, and wet beforehand (e.g. 1L of CEREAL FREE with around 2 to 3L of warm water), which will make chewing easier and prevent any esophageal blockage problems already reported in very rare cases.
